Yesterday (Tuesday 2nd April), we joined thousands of letting agents at the ARLA Propertymark Conference 2019 at the ExCel Centre, London. Whilst providing agents with solutions they can use to ensure compliance, beat the tenant fee ban and grow their business, VTUK paid attention to the conference from key speakers happening across the day. Below we’ve summarised the key announcements from the day…
ARLA Remains A Trusted Symbol

The Industry Should Unite

They clearly outlined how the industry should unite as the fee ban comes in, whilst work together to deliver an exceptional customer experience. We Could See A Property MOT
A debate on the topic of property regulation between Theresa Wallace, Head of Compliance at Savills, Sir Robin Wales, Former Mayor of Newham, Polly Neate, Chief Executive at Shelter, Richard Lambert, CEO at the National Landlords Association and Dr Julie Rugg revealed a lot of support for the introduction of a Property MOT. An interesting statistic revealed that 40% of the market are letting agents whilst the rest are landlords; the introduction of a Property MOT will help increase standards in the sector.
Landlords Need Agents
Rightmove’s Daniel Barea highlighted how the majority of landlords have not made any plans for the next two years, meaning more and more landlords need an agent’s support. This gives agents a fantastic opportunity to offer them services to assist them in letting a property.
Tenant Fee Toolkit
ARLA Propertymark’s Chief Executive, David Cox, announced ARLA’s Tenant Fee Toolkit. They’ve produced 18 mini videos agent’s can use to ensure they’re compliant with the fee ban, alongside useful fact sheets and documents, case studies from Scottish agents as well as 10 practical tips agents can do.
Change Is Key

We at VTUK can provide you with strategies you can use to not just circumvent your loss of income as a result of the ban but grow and thrive in today’s competitive market.
